Computer Aided Design (CAD)

CAD stands for Computer Aided Design and describes the computer-aided construction and design of components, products, machines etc.

Why CAD? The advantages:

  • Spatial 3D models and designs provide a better basis for discussion in cross-departmental meetings than 2D drawings
  • Fast corrections and adjustments at a time when costs are still low
  • Precise visualization options for individual components, assemblies and end products; creation of various views from relevant perspectives
  • Detection and prevention of possible collisions and installation problems
  • Comprehensive creation of documentation of the designs including parts lists, dimensions and shapes
  • Problem-free use of design data for subsequent projects
  • Automatically generate CAM files for use on CNC machines or 3D printers

Phases and goals of CAD

  • In the conception phase, the requirements are analyzed, possible solution variants are developed and finally evaluated.
  • During the design phase, the solutions are then concretized and models are created.
  • In the last step, the detailing, the individual parts used are displayed and the corresponding parts lists and production documents are created.

We use Autodesk CAD programs such as Inventor, SolidWorks and Unigraphics for our designs at modern 3D-CAD workstations. In this way we ensure that compatibility with your systems and workstations is guaranteed.

In this respect, we at MKW GmbH place the highest priority on full transparency and maximum flexibility.
