Rotary Indexer for Assembling Lock Upper Parts

The rotary indexer for assembling lock upper parts enables efficient and reliable assembly of components across multiple coordinated stations. After the mounts are loaded manually, the rotary table is advanced via a two-hand pushbutton. Once all assembly steps are complete, the fully assembled products are automatically removed and set aside.

Implementation and Solution

The machine is designed as a 12-station rotary indexing machine, including the necessary part holders for the respective product.

The machine is designed to be operated by a single operator.

Station 1 “Loading”:
The operator loads the workpiece carrier with the four required components

Station 2 “Re-pressing the bracket”:
Checking whether the nut, washer, and base plate have been correctly inserted by the operator (using a camera)

Station 3 “Screwing on Nuts”:
Positioning and screwing on a nut (automatically)

Station 4 “Handling Sheet Metal and Discs”:
Placing the disc and the base plate (automatically)

Station 5, “Rivets”:
Riveting the Mother’s Upright Union

Station 6 “Caulking”:
Plastic deformation of the end of the bracket

Station 7 “Testing”:
Testing the breakaway torque of the nut

Station 8 “Marking”:
Marking the closure component

Station 9 “Removal”:
Removal of the finished cap tops
