Rolling Line / Pipe Profiling
The system is based on an aluminum radial forming/separating head equipped with five CNC servo axes for rolling and separating stainless steel tubes.
Implementation and Solution
The entire head is mounted on a highly dynamic CNC rail-guided table (max. stroke 1300 mm). After cutting, the finished spiral tubes fall onto a conveyor belt, which transports them out of the machine and then feeds them into the finished-part bins.
Using a bar-loading magazine (capacity: 25 bars), raw material up to 6 m long is automatically fed into the machine and separated. Electrical sensors are used to detect the correct position of the workpieces and monitor the fill level.
An NC loading system automatically detects the start of the separated tube and feeds it to the CNC spindle with precise dimensional accuracy.
By simultaneously moving the rotation, feed, and three rolling axes, twisted tubes with diameters ranging from Ø 6 to Ø 9 mm and lengths ranging from 112.5 to 825 mm are produced, depending on the specifications.
The following parameters, among others, can be adjusted via the control system:
• Workpiece length
• Start and end points of the rolling
• Rolling depth
• Rolling pitch
Special interchangeable parts are used to adapt the machining tools to the different product variants (diameter, pitch angle, etc.).
Using a laser displacement measurement system, the products are checked for changes in length during the manufacturing process and then cut to exact dimensions.
